Whether you’re single or taken, we can all agree on one thing – we would be nothing without the women in our lives: Our moms, aunts, sisters, best friends, role models, etc. While most people are caught up with Valentine’s Day (because honestly, there are other holidays to celebrate your relationship) let’s not forget about these powerful stars who are there for us through thick and thin (and through all the boyfriends – sorry boys!). They deserve to be celebrated in a special way and so here are 8 ways to tune into your inner Leslie Knope and make the most of your Galentine’s Day – Albeit it’s on a weekday this time, but there’s always the weekend!
BRUNCH & BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS
Brunch is the most popular option. Pair it with a place that serves up bottomless mimosas to keep the fun going and the conversations flowing. In my opinion, this would my favorite way to celebrate Galentine’s Day, but to be honest, who doesn’t love brunch?
GET FANCY AT HIGH TEA
When I think of high tea, I think of warm scones, frilly dresses, and bite sized sandwiches. This one’s more of an experience than anything and while it’ll probably be a little pricier than brunch, you can count on all your ladies to love it.
RELAXING SPA DAY
Stressed over school or work? No problem. The best remedy for any sort of stress is relaxation. So take the girls to your local spa and spend the day getting much needed pamper sessions. I highly encourage checking out Groupon for deals on this.
DRESS UP & GO DANCING
Sadly, I don’t often go dancing as much as I’d want to, but I always have the best time when I do. It’s even better when you get together with your galfriends doing each other’s hair and make up and dressing up. Just make sure you go with a big group of girls, keep each other safe, and have fun.
HAVE A SLUMBER PARTY
Because really, what girl doesn’t love the old fashioned slumber party? Even though as we age, the capacity to stay up all night is greatly diminished, this is still a relaxing way to hang out with your girls and catch up on the latest gossip.
If you and your girl squad have a common movie or TV show you all love, binge watch it. My choice would probably be either the Bachelor, Game of Thrones, or the Harry Potter Series. If you want to stick purely to female-oriented movies, binge watching all the current Disney princess movies sounds like a really cute idea. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of snacks and popcorn.
KEEP IT SWEET WITH BAKING NIGHT
For a hands-on activity, keep it sweet with a baking night. Figure out what you and your crew want to make whether it be many things or a large baking challenge, coordinate who brings what, and be sure that everyone has something to do. Team work, fun in the kitchen, and sweets – sounds like a good bonding experience.
WINE & CHARCUTERIE NIGHT
I’m a huge fan of those meat and cheese boards (otherwise known as charcuterie). I find it fun to assemble and like to drink Stella Rosa with it. The best conversations I’ve ever had with my friends have been over wine and charcuterie, and it’s also a healthier food option.
Bonus: Whatever you decide to do, make sure to take lots of cute photos! Polaroid cameras are great too! Your lady loves will appreciate the picture souvenirs.
