OOTD: Simple & Sweet Ode to Summer

Hello and Happy Tuesday, friends! =D

Some Life Updates…

I took a little break from both blogging and social media to focus on other endeavors – I turned 24, started a new position at my day job, and since I live, study, and work in front of a computer all day everyday, I took some time off to rest my eyes. Now that the craziness has calmed down and I’m a little more used to my new work routine, I decided it was time to come back to what I love with a little more vigor.

Today’s OOTD is what I consider to be a part of my basic wardrobe. A loose fitting off-the-shoulder top with ripped up denim shorts – simple but perfect for almost any day activities. I guess you could say this outfit is like my ode to summer because it features staples from a summer wardrobe. I changed it up with a textured clutch and a three-toned belt at the waist.

Gotta wear this one while I can because Fall is almost here! Just the other day, I walked into a store and they already had Halloween stuff! But as excited as I am for the Fall, I’m more excited about all the yummy things that it brings, like PSLs and sweet smelling candles!

On another topic, I’d like to tell you about how I determine what fits me. First off, my mom taught me everything I need to know about fashion, she lived in New York City for so long and learning how to be fashionable was just part of her experience. Second, I may look small, but really it’s all about the fit….and the angle of the camera.

3 Style Tips

  1. Where shorts are concerned, I tend to go 1-2 sizes up. That way, I can leave space between the fabric and my skin making my thighs look smaller than they actually are. To make sure the shorts don’t fall, I either have it altered or I tighten the waist with a belt.
  2. To be honest, I spend more money altering my clothes than buying them. When it comes to dresses and pants, this is literally the story of my life, but with being short it just comes with the territory, otherwise a dress can swallow you and make you look shorter – heels also really help! With pants, it’s just a given.
  3. As much as I love my basics, my family and friends can attest to the fact that I am definitely on the “extra” side. Whether that be a shiny belt, a clutch, or how I do my hair, I like to have some sort of individual flare.
