OOTD: Cherry Blossoms in the Desert

Recently, I’ve been in love with wide-leg pants. These were a hit in the 60s/70s but back then they were known as the Palazzo pant – Fashion history always finds a way to repeat itself. I’m also super obsessed with the current bag trend. Wicker and straw based bags with unique shapes are huge this season and with summer quickly approaching, I can guarantee that you’ll be seeing a lot of these.

As much as I love this outfit, it was quite difficult for me to get just right.

I was initially inspired by the Japanese cherry blossom pictures on Instagram when I put this outfit together. The pants reminded me of the hakama (Japanese style trousers) and the color, of cherry blossoms. One of the top things on my bucket list is to see the cherry blossoms bloom in Japan, hopefully I’ll be luckier next year. Then there was Coachella and the desert. I knew I wanted to combine the two and create a free, romantic kind of look, but it was definitely a challenge.

Being fun-sized means that baggy-anything can make me look even shorter and heavier than I actually am, and with the pants being quite high waisted, the only way to give me some semblance of a torso was to find a top that really hugged my curves. You can’t imaging how many crop-top combinations I tried, but this style was a new experiment for me.

As for the shoes, I stuck with Spring’s most basic: Espadrilles. You can’t go wrong with them, and I just so happened to find a pair that matched my pants and bag!

Also, don’t let the size of the little bucket bag fool you! It actually fits my iPhone 8+, wallet, keys, and lipstick comfortably.

Ideally, I would have loved to wear something like this, with the face stickers, to Coachella, but I’ll just send my spirit over there for weekend two.

Thanks for reading! I know I’ve been gone a while, but I’m hoping to continue where I left off and bring you guys content on a more consistent basis.

Hope you’re having Coachella moments this weekend, even if you’re not actually there!
